“CBD Gets You High” & Other Things People Get Wrong About CBD

There are a lot of misconceptions about CBD floating around out there, including some that even frequent CBD users may not be aware they believe. Many of these come from CBD’s association with marijuana and THC while others are simply due to the hype surrounding CBD which leads people to wonder if it really has any wellness benefits at all.

To help give you a better understanding of CBD, we’re exploring the most common assumptions about it.

CBD Gets You High

NEGATIVE. You can’t get high off of hemp extract CBD isolate. In comparison to the marijuana plant, hemp has low THC levels (less than 0.3%) therefore you receive none of the psychoactive effects of THC.

CBD Will Make You Fail A Drug Test

This is both true & false. If you’re taking CBD isolate (pure CBD) then you will NOT fail a drug test because there is zero THC. However, if you’re ingesting full-spectrum CBD then it could show up on your drug test since it can contain detectable levels of THC.

CBD Is Illegal In The United States

No need to worry, since the 2018 Farm Bill was passed, hemp-derived CBD is legal in all 50 states. You can possess it, consume it and even fly with it!

CBD Oil Is The Same As Hemp Seed Oil

Nope! CBD oil differs from hemp seed oil because it’s carefully extracted from the hemp plant and then isolated-the entire oil is rich with pure CBD, packing a ton of benefits like easing discomfort and reducing stress. Hemp seed oil on the other hand is pressed from the seeds of the plant which will only contain a tiny bit of CBD that isn’t even enough to provide much benefit for you.

CBD Makes You Feel Tired

This misconception developed because some people take CBD to help them sleep. However, CBD doesn’t make you drowsy. Instead, it can reduce your anxiousness, stress or discomfort, which can help people get to sleep faster.

CBD Is Addictive

False! According to the World Health Organization, “CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.”

CBD Is Just Another Wellness Fad

All the hype around CBD can lead people to believe that there’s nothing solid behind it and that it’s just another fad but that couldn’t be further from the truth! Numerous studies have shown that CBD truly does have beneficial properties such as relieving poor sleep, muscle and joint discomfort as well as anxiousness.

With so many companies looking to include CBD into their product line up, it’s important you make sure they aren’t misleading you about what’s in their CBD products by looking for a Certificate of Analysis (COA)-this is a third-party lab test that reveals how much CBD (and anything else) is inside a CBD product. Reputable companies, like Soul CBD, will always provide COAs on product pages!
