Apex Trading is a software company offering cannabis cultivators, product manufacturers, distributors, and retailers a system to streamline existing inventory, ordering, and sales management. The platform also provides multiple sales channels through a marketplaces and custom storefronts.
Cannabiz Media spoke with John Manlove and Rob Fess, the founders of Apex Trading, to learn more about how they use the Cannabiz Media License Database to save time and grow their business.
Why Does Apex Trading Subscribe to the Cannabiz Media License Database?
Apex Trading subscribes to the Cannabiz Media License Database to connect with license holders in the cannabis and hemp industries. A key advantage to subscribing for both John and Rob is the time savings the subscription delivers.
Rob shares, “I was spending most of my evenings and a lot of my weekend time sifting through state databases and articles of incorporation and searching the web and Instagram – just piecing all of the information together to try to find companies for us to market to.
“Then, we found Cannabiz Media, and I quickly recognized how my weekends and evenings opened back up because I was just able to spend my just working hours on it. If I needed to find something, I just typed it into the Cannabiz Media License Database. The biggest time savings and the biggest external tool I’ve found that helps me is Cannabiz Media. Our whole sales team, director, and staff all use it now.”
John agrees that the time-saving benefits of the License Database are a key reason they continue to renew their subscription year-after-year, but he also points out that the value of the data in the License Database is equally important.
He explains, “For me and my sales team, we need to get to the decision maker. The sales process can be pretty long and having to go through several gatekeepers to get to that decision maker can take several outreaches – maybe over the course of several weeks or a month. What I love about the Cannabiz Media License Database is being able to log in, find a business, and know who the owner is, who the general manager is, and so on so when I call. Even if we don’t have that specific person’s email or phone number, I know who I’m asking for when I call.
“With Cannabiz Media’s data, you’re almost able to jump straight through the gatekeeper in that way and call the decision maker directly. To me, that has been so vital, and it has allowed us to really speed up our sales process and our sell through. That has been pivotal to our success.”
What’s Next for Apex Trading?
This summer, Apex Trading launched its hemp platform, Bushel44. “We’re really positioning this as we’re not a listed marketplace for hemp,” says John. “That’s what everyone is doing. Instead, we’re building an ERP specifically for hemp, so we’re allowing businesses to have access to all of the tools they need to not only run their businesses efficiently but also to sell effectively downstream to their buyers or consumers.”
The company is also preparing for a series A raise to infuse growth capital into Apex Trading through sales and marketing with a goal to grow Apex and Bushel in the future.
