TheatreWorks opens the box

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley is set to stream a benefit online workshop reading of “Pandora” Thursday through Monday.

Award-winning writer, director and teacher Laurel Ollstein wrote the new play. In it, she investigates the Pandora’s box myth, delving into the curiosity and hope resulting from one woman’s fateful actions.

Giovanna Sardelli, TheatreWorks’ artistic associate and director of new works, directs a cast that includes Katy Sullivan (as Pandora), Scott Aiello (Dr. Z/Po), Mary Beth Fisher (Hes), Jeremy Kahn (Eddie), Katharine Lorraine (Dina/Professor) and Carrie Paff (Phro), with stage directions read by Katherine Hamilton.

Sullivan is an award-winning actress, producer, writer, athlete and bilateral, above-knee amputee. Her TV credits include “Station 19,” “My Name Is Earl,” “Last Man Standing,” “Legit” and “NCIS: New Orleans.” An additional interview with Sullivan is available for viewing online.

The streaming of “Pandora” is pre-recorded. Performances are scheduled to be accessible 6 p.m. Thursday through 6 p.m. Monday.
